How the system works.

The NetAssure service consists of the NetAssure Box which physically connects to your computer network(s) providing a link to the internet and the NetAssure Central Management Servers which provide the control and much of the functionality of the NetAssure service.

The NetAssure Box is intelligent in its own right, but combined with the power of the NetAssure Central Management Servers it becomes a complete network management and connectivity system.

All interaction takes place on the NetAssure Central Management Servers via the web based Management and Reporting console. The website controls have been designed to be used by a business owner rather than a computer engineer. The system is powerful but not unecessarily complex to use. From initial configuration and any daily changes through to viewing of reports, all interface with the NetAssure service takes place via the website.

Keeping the system secure.

Every two minutes, your NetAssure checks in with the NetAssure Central Management Servers to see if there are any configuration changes to be applied. At the same time queues for software updates are checked and the NetAssure's traffic logs are delivered to the Servers for interpretation in the reports and use in other proactive notifications. At no time does your actual data get routed through the NetAssure service - only information about what traffic has been sent and received.

Enhanced Security
The reason for the NetAssure's checking every two minutes is for enhanced security. NetAssure's have digital certificates on them corresponding to the various NetAssure Central Management Servers around the world. This ensures that hackers can't build machines that pretend to be NetAssure Servers and take over your NetAssure.

Because NetAssure's ask for updates, rather than have the updates pushed to them, makes it even more difficult for the unscrupulous to break into your NetAssure and your network.
